One of the best parts of my day at Stratton is taking a stroll through the Village and getting friendly greetings from the dogs that are out and about. Some quality puppy time definitely brightens the work day!
That’s why I’m a staunch advocate for adopting an office dog – never mind the impracticality, the jealousy when he hangs out in someone else’s office, or the fact that other departments might find it unfairly awesome. Heading into the office every morning to be greeted by a fluffy, slobbery face would be one great reason to go to work.
Alas, I don’t think we’ll have an office Schnauzer or Labradoodle anytime soon, but we do occasionally get visits from friends and their dogs! Most recently, Wilson:
A goofy and contagiously bright-spirited English Springer Spaniel, Wilson is better than coffee in the morning. He’s become our unofficial mascot for the Heels to Paws 5K (Aug. 12), when he’ll get to stretch his (three) legs around the mountain and play with some other dogs.
|Wilson looks comfortable in office life!|
Wilson is a “tri-paw” who lost one of his legs in an accident last year (read Wilson’s story here) but acts like it ain’t no thang. He still runs, jumps on things that are too high and gives warm doggy greetings to everyone he meets. Except for his signature gait, Wilson seems unchanged and his positive personality floored all of us who met him.
The Heels to Paws 5K will be Wilson’s first time running around the mountain again, and for a good cause – all proceeds from the fun run go to our local animal shelter, Second Chance Animal Center. If I could have an office dog, that's where I would go to find the perfect one.
So here's an early YIP-YIP-Hooray for everyone who comes out to support Heels to Paws, two and four legs alike (even the dog-less among us can enter)!
