Parks Update: October 2012

Waiting for snow? Hardly. The Park Crew's mid-mountain work space is abuzz with the sound of welding, metal cutting, spray pant and blasting tunes while they spend the summer and fall building and refinishing the winter's features.

This winter, the crew will expand the Big Ben terrain park to span the entire trail, add a 13' mini-pipe and build some features on the way to the park to keep it interesting. Look for Big Ben to open in mid December.

From top-to-bottom, Sunriser Supertrail is set to have medium to large slopestyle features designed for flow, finishing off with a quarter-pipe. The crew plans to be riding Supertrail by late December.

A boardercross course returns on East Byrneside, progression continues on Tyro and small, beginner features will be in place in the learning area.

And, the Parks Crew is looking to it's skiers and riders to come up with the next big thing and design a feature to be built in one of our parks this winter.

Go big, get creative and maybe you'll see YOUR design in a Park this winter. Enter the Design A Feature Contest on Facebook.

  1. Top to bottom run on supertrail that is going to be way better than Lower Middlebrook. Supertrail is alot wider, longer and you don't have that stupid flat at the bottom. Off the lift right into the park and right back onto the lift. I also heard that that you are useing the entir trail on Big Ben is that true? That opens up alot of space there will be features galore I can't wait for this season you guys are really moving in the right direction.

  2. Just have the actual lift next to big ben open. Why a quarter pipe at the bottom of supertrail? seems like a huge waste of snow. how about a nice 70ft booter

  3. The gap between the pipes and the red dividers is too large. Someone is going to jam a ski or board in there and break something; be it equipment or person.

  4. The quarterpipe will be clogged up so much with beginners and bad riders crashing. Will be a nightmare on a busy day. Make a big jump or some really creative feature instead of wasting all that snow on it...better yet, make a big pipe again instead of a stupid little 13 footer. Plus all those rails just look like the ones you guys have at mid mountain for years now which never get put out
