Halloween Bash Done Right

By Tyler Lewis and Adam Gray (aka. your 2013-14 Season Snow Reporters)

Between picking out a costume and preparing for a party you can spend hours researching and preparing to make sure you do it right. Lucky for you we’ve already compiled some of the best winter costume and party ideas all in one place.

If you’re anything like us in the Snow Reporting office you still have no idea what you are going to be. Here are some of the ideas we have come up with so far…

  • Ross Powers (SMS Alumni and Olympic Gold Medalist)
  • Snowman
  • Snowflake (make sure you do the snow dance though)
  • Shaun White (If you have tight enough pants)
  • Stratton Snow Reporters
  • 80’s Skier/Snowboarder
  • VT Park Ranger

  • Miley Cyrus *Post Wrecking Ball (You’ll need a foam finger)
  • The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)

Now that you have your costume picked out, it’s time to figure out the food, beverages and activities.

First and foremost, for all your bloodthirsty guests, there’s tasty jungle juice, your favorite Northeast brew or something more appropriate for all ages: Apple Bobbing Punch. If that’s the case then we have the perfect alchemy for your punch.

1 (32-ounce) bottle apple cider

1 (32-ounce) bottle cranberry juice drink

1 (16-ounce) jar whole crabapples, un-drained

1 (6-ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed

1 (6-ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

1 (1-liter) bottle ginger ale or lemon-lime soft drink, chilled

After you’ve got your beverage options all in line, it’s time to decide what appetizers you want to offer your spooky friends. Here’s a list of ideas and links to their recipes if they sound worthy.

Onion-Bacon Dip

Goblin Dip with Bone Crackers

Green Dip with Spooky Chips

Easy Barbecue Sliders

Breadstick Haystacks

Up next is decorating.

Must haves include:
Spider webs

Your going to want to keep your guests happy and active throughout the duration of the party, so here’s some ideas on activities.

  • Halloween Photo Booth
  • Spooky Piñata
  • Bobbing for apples
  • Mummy wrap (Race)
  • Candy Swap
  • Bean Bag Toss (aka corn hole)
