Stratton’s New Snowcat Ride With Dinner

I was delighted to take part in one of Stratton’s newest culinary experiences, the Snowcat Dinner at Mid-Mountain Lodge. We met in the Main Base Lodge before boarding a heated snowcat operated by Kevin, our friendly and welcoming driver. The cabin comfortably seated 10 people and offered views of the mountain after the lifts stop spinning. We enjoyed witnessing what not many people get to see, a “behind the curtain” look at Stratton at night. We watched snowmakers shuttling their snowmobiles around tending to and adjusting the snow guns, the fog lights of groomers making their first passes laying down corduroy for skiers/riders to enjoy the next morning, and eyed the clock tower and lit up Village from a new perspective.

We arrived at the Mid-Mountain Lodge after a pleasant and smooth 15 minute ride and I enjoyed a unique dining experience that I won’t soon forget. After dropping us off, the snowcat returned to the base to pick up 10 more guests who would be joining us. We were offered a tasty charcuterie board as well as a full bar on the lower lever of the characteristically Vermont lodge. After chatting over snacks and drinks in this cozy atmosphere, we were introduced to the chef who invited us to the dinner table.

Local Lamb

The occasion couples an intimate experience with exquisite cuisine. The Chef described each dish served and the inspiration behind it. While I enjoyed everything that was delivered to the table, my favorite was certainly the main course of local lamb. This has to be the most unique dining experience I have ever had at Stratton and I would highly recommend giving this adventure a try.
