Gear Up for the 2018-19 Season

The 50 day mark is here. That’s right everyone, we’ll be on snow in 50 days. Between new terrain and new deals, we can’t wait to clip in and lace up. With the countdown on, that means its time to get ready for when the snow flies. Here are our top tips for getting ready for the upcoming season.

Tune Up

It’s time to dust of your skis, remount your board and dig out that helmet. Having properly tuned equipment is essential to having an awesome and safe season. If you’re looking to get new gear, head to the First Run Ski Shop for all your ski needs. Riders, head to Burton, also located in the Village. If you want to try before you buy, you can demo at both at Burton and the First Run. Snag a First Run Demo Card for $75 which will let you test as many skis as you want, any day of the season. As an added bonus, you’ll also receive a $125 credit toward the purchase of a new ski package. Remember, cards must be purchased at First Run by Oct. 31, 2018.

Turn In

Your first day on snow can really take it out of you, and as with any proper ski day, apres is not to be missed regardless of one’s exhaustion. Lucky for you, Stratton is a “no car” resort, which means you can make it basically anywhere on the resort without having to drive. With a variety of lodging options from slopeside to those more removed from the hills, there’s a place for everyone to lay their head. We’d recommend looking for a property with a hot tub, fireplace and ample fridge space.

Train

There’s no way around it, skiing and snowboarding are sports and you need to train for them. You don’t need to go crazy, but definitely something to get your pulse up is important. We have a few tips here, but we also recommend any of our athletic offerings on mountain. Hiking is a great all-body exercise, and for an added sweat, we suggest heading straight up Standard. Through the Lole store, you can work on your flexibility with yoga and pilates classes. You can also work on your yoga at the Stratton Training and Fitness Center. With a 75-foot indoor salt water pool, weight training, spin bikes and saunas, the training possibilities are endless

Turn Time

Lessons are a great way to get your legs under you and work to get those ever-envied on edge turns. For absolute beginners looking to get on snow, Stratton’s Learn-to-Ski and Ride program is now $99 and gives you freshly tuned equipment, and an 1 3/4 hour lesson and the ability to add on a $20 all mountain access ticket.
