Mac Forehand, Southport CT native, is in Beijing preparing to represent the USA Freeski Team in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Mac recently earned a silver medal at the XGames in Aspen Colorado. Freeskiing is an edge of your seat action packed sport filled with high flying tricks, jumps and terrain park features. To watch Mac compete is to hold your breath and then exhale with wonder.
Mac started spending weekends in the Stratton Mountain Resort daycare program at age 18 months, learning how to do “pizza and french fries”. Mac lived in CT full time with his family but spent weekends in Vermont, quickly moving through Stratton’s daycare, seasonal Little Cubmprogram, racing, freestyle and Freeski program – all by the time he was 13. In 2015, Mac joined his sister Savannah at Stratton Mountain School. Since then his family has maintained residences at Stratton and CT.
In 2019, at age 17, Mac became the highest ranking slopestyle freeskier in the world, earning the prestigious Crystal Globe. After graduation from Stratton Mountain School in 2020, Mac moved to Park City Utah, to train full time with the US Freeski Team in hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Freeski Team.
When he isn’t skiing Mac likes to skateboard and mountain bike. Due to Beijing’s Covid restrictions, his parents, Ann Marie and Ray, and his sister Savannah, will be watching him on TV at home along with the rest of us!
