What does RFID mean for me?

For those of you who aren’t familiar, implementing RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology into our day-to-day operations will allow guests to load the lifts without the process of having their lift ticket or season pass scanned manually. RFID scanning is beneficial for several reasons, and we’re extremely excited to be offering it to all of you this upcoming winter season. Below is an FAQ for all things RFID.

RFID FAQ

What is RFID?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification Device and consists of a small circuit integrated into your Ikon Pass, Stratton Season Pass or Mountain Pass (daily lift ticket card). When you pass through the lift line, this circuit will register and open an access gate automatically for hands-free pass scanning and streamlined lift access.

Are Lift Tickets still a thing?

Physical paper lift tickets are no longer – instead, you will purchase your daily lift ticket online, and that daily lift ticket can be loaded onto your reloadable RFID-enabled Mountain Pass during your online checkout. If you have not yet received a Mountain Pass, you can pick yours up at one of our Pick-Up Boxes by scanning the bar code you received via the confirmation email from your online order.

What is a Mountain Pass?

A Mountain Pass is a reloadable RFID card that serves as your key to our new RFID gates. Your Mountain Pass is the physical card, that holds your purchased lift tickets for each visit.

How do I go about getting my Mountain Pass?

Find your way to one of our Pick-Up Boxes where you will be prompted to scan your barcode which can be found in your confirmation email. The Pick-Up Box will print out your Mountain Pass with your daily lift ticket loaded on it. Hang tight onto your Mountain Pass from here on out, as it can be reloaded at any time online for future visits.

Where are the Mountain Pass Pick-Up Boxes located?

Pick-Up Boxes are located in the Village Courtyard, Main Base Area, and Sun Bowl Base Area.

Can I pick up my Mountain Pass at the Sun Bowl?

Yes, there will be Pick-Up Boxes located in the Sun Bowl Base Area.

How do I use my RFID pass when in line?

You should store your RFID pass in a zippered pocket on the left side of your jacket or pants. Your pass must be separate from cell phones, bank cards, keys, or any aluminum products. Do not have more than one RFID card on you at any time, including RFID cards from other resorts.

Do I need to take my Mountain Pass out of my pocket when going through the RFID gates?

No. The RFID gate will detect your Mountain Pass if it is located in a zippered pocket on the left side of your jacket or pants separate from cell phones, bank cards, keys, or any aluminum products. Do not have more than one RFID card on you at a time, including RFID cards from other resorts.

How do I know if my pass is RFID-enabled?

You can test your pass at the test RFID gate in the Village Courtyard. If you experience any issues when testing your pass, please visit Guest Services.

I have an old pass media that I have continued to reuse – do I need to get a new one?

Passes that were issued before the 21/22 winter season (Summit, Select, Strattitude) will need to be replaced at Guest Services. If you are unsure, find our test RFID gate in the Village Courtyard or inquire with Guest Services.

Is there anywhere I can test my pass before getting in line?

Yes, we have a test RFID gate in the Village Courtyard. Please visit Guest Services for any issues you may be having with your pass.

Where is Guest Services located?

There are two Guest Service options on-resort. One is located in the Main Base Area, and the other is in the Sun Bowl Base Area.

What if I damage or lose my Mountain Pass?

Damaged or lost passes are subject to a replacement fee. Please go to Guest Services to inquire about acquiring a new pass.

Will my Ikon Pass work at the RFID gates?

Yes, all Ikon Passes, Ikon Base Passes and Ikon Session Passes are RFID-enabled.

Will my Stratton Season Pass and/or Stratton Mountain Pass work at the RFID gates?

Yes, all Stratton Season Passes and Mountain Passes are RFID-enabled.

Where do I go if I am having issues with my pass?
