Berm and Burn for JAMBA: Uphill Mountain Bike Race at the Stratton Bike Park

Join us on Saturday, June 14th at Stratton Bike Park for “Berm and Burn for JAMBA“, a 6-hour endurance ride and race to support the Jamaica Area Mountain Bike Association. Come ride, challenge yourself, and have fun for a great cause!

About the Race

It’s pretty simple (in theory) ride as many laps as you can in 6 hours. The more you ride, the more prizes you win. Each lap will challenge you with 600–800 feet of elevation gain over 2 to 4 miles. The exact course is still under wraps, but expect a fun, flowy, and leg-burning loop you’ll love to hate😂.

Event Overview

Date & Time: Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Location: Stratton Bike Park, 5 Village Lodge Road, Stratton Mountain, VT 05155

Participants can choose to ride solo or pair up as a duo, with options for both analog and e-bike categories. Riders can complete as many laps as they desire within the 6-hour timeframe.

Prizes

To celebrate the achievements and spirit of our participants, a variety of prizes will be awarded:

  • Top Finishers: Recognition for the top male and female riders in both analog and e-bike categories (GoPros and The North Face duffle bags).
  • Lap Milestones: Tiered prizes for riders completing specific lap counts (e.g., 3, 5, 9, and 11 for analog – 10, 15, 20, and 25 for e-bike).
  • Special Categories: Oldest and Youngest Competitor (backpacks), Duo with Largest Age Gap (backpacks), Dad with Most Laps (The North Face hammock), Best Costume (Smith Shift Mag sunglasses), and Best Camp Setup (cooler).

About JAMBA

Entering it’s 6th season of riding, planning, building, and maintaining trails in the West River Valley, Jamaica Area Mountain Bike Association has accomplished a great deal since 2019.

Beginning with work on a legacy trail up and over Ball Mountain, the Ken Query Trail is a work in progress, but one that will one day connect the trails at Ball Mountain Lake with the village of Jamaica by singletrack!

In 2023, JAMBA opened it’s first professionally built trail in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Ball Mountain Lake- “Having a Ball”.  Hand built by our friends at Sustainable Trail Works, this gorgeous .5 mile trail snakes down the steep hillside from the access road to the West River Trail.

In 2024, once again in partnership with USACE and Sustainable Trailworks, we opened the second part of the Ball Mountain Lake trails, “Hard Corps”.  This .5 mile trail completed the connection between the West River Trail and the lakeside picnic area, or as we like to call it, “the most beautiful trailhead in Vermont”.

This year, in early summer 2025, we’ll cut the ribbon on a Skills Loop at the Jamaica Village School, right down the street from down town Jamaica and just across the bridge from Jamaica State Park and the West River Trail.

Built by legendary trail builders Sinuosity– this community draw will provide progression features for all levels of riders, including adaptive riders and other differently abled trail users.

The future looks bright for JAMBA as well, with the following projects in development moving forward:

  • Improvements and reroutes on the West River Trail between Ball Mountain Lake and the Winhall Brook Campground
  • A potential partnership with Stratton and the town of Winhall for a trail network in Winhall Municipal Forest
  • A potential coalition of local land owners to develop a trail network on South Hill just outside of Jamaica Village

We hope you’ll join us on Saturday June 14th at Stratton Bike Park for a fun day with some friendly competition that helps us raise money for JAMBA!
