Vermont is famous for its charming seasons and breathtaking foliage, but let’s be honest, it also keeps us on our toes with unpredictable weather. When you’re planning a wedding here, there’s one golden rule: be prepared for anything, especially rain! Instead of dreading it, embrace the possibility. Trust us, whether the sun is shining or a gentle drizzle falls, your wedding day will be absolutely perfect.

Clear Umbrellas: Your Stylish Rain Accessory
While no one wants rain on their big day it is better to be prepared and may I say excited for it?! Some of my all-time favorite photos have happened in the rain. Those clear plastic umbrellas can really go a long way! Check with your venue or photographer before you go and buy these but even if you do, you can get them online for pretty cheap. Not only do they keep you dry, but they also create a beautiful, diffused light for your pictures– it adds a touch of whimsical charm that a sunny day just can’t replicate.

Love Your “Plan B”
One of the biggest stressors for couples is the “what if” of bad weather. The key to banishing that worry is to feel completely comfortable and confident about your backup plan. Keep in mind your wedding coordinator will do everything they can to get you to the top of the mountain but sometimes its just not worth sending all your guests up to the summit to be rained on. The weather at the top of the mountain is also different than at the base of the mountain so it can be hard to prepare for the summit weather if its warm and dry at the bottom. When you’ve walked through the “Plan B” and know it’s just as beautiful and functional as “Plan A,” you can relax and truly enjoy your day, no matter what Mother Nature decides.
Grooms, Your Reassurance is Golden
To all the amazing grooms out there, this one’s for you. If the weather forecast shifts, or you get word that the plans are moving indoors, give your bride a call. Even if she’s surrounded by her bridesmaids and stylists, hearing your voice can be incredibly grounding. Sometimes, all she needs is a moment of reassurance from you, a simple “Everything’s going to be perfect, no matter what.” Your calm demeanor and loving words can soothe any last-minute jitters and remind her that at the end of the day, all that truly matters is marrying the love of her life.
Remember, your wedding day is about celebrating your love story. A little Vermont rain just adds another unique chapter to your adventure!
